Why electricity is called power
Electricity
is also called 'power', may be because it wants to behave like people in power.
It wants people to be attached to it just as a refrigerator is forced to for its
smooth survival. But the electricity is by design is controlled by the
"switch on and switch off mechanism''. Power has a tendency to fluctuate
just as men in power have the tendency to misuse or favor with power.
To stabilize
men in power there are mechanism like RTI, court and other legal interventions
and the power stabilizes itself through the fuse mechanism, transformer as also
the branded stabilizers. But men in power are viewed by people differently. 'Keep
safe distance' is one policy and also 'be in contact only if necessary' is the
other.
A bulb, fan,
or TV are in touch with power but livens up the connection only when needed.
Most people prefer to be such. A cell phone or a laptop has slightly more
selfish behavior. They get in touch, draw sufficient power and disconnect
themselves and act independently and go about their business and rejoin the
power center to charge themselves up again. The original source of power
helplessly accepts this behavior. After all power is generated and power
centers are created only for the benefit of people though the original intention
gets diluted and also mutilated in implementation.
Thus while
power is inevitable most people handle men in power the way the battery of a
camera does while it is charged. It goes off if not charged but blinks
continuously while in connection with power in the process of getting charged
to display its connection to the power center. People in close contact with men
in power also similarly display their connection. But the men in power behave
like electric power in one aspect. Objects that need power for either charging
or glowing or otherwise to be in action have to approach the power center by
the switch on and switch off source. Men in power too want people to take the
initiative to be in touch with them and also prefer the medium of a third party
to perform the act of switch on and switch off of relations. Electricity may be
called power for whatever reason but the aforesaid behavior of people in power
perhaps led to the saying that 'A friend in power is a friend lost'.
