VISIT TO CAPITOL IN WASHINGTON DC---DEMOCRACY 0F USA AND HISTORIC 20/01/2021
EAGER CROWD QUEUING TO ENTER THE CAPITOL |
Washington and Washington DC are different and are 2600 miles away, I
learnt only when I planned a visit to DC.
Capitol being the seat of power in the capital, that was the first place I
visited. It was interesting to find many statues and plaques inside the
Capitol, all beautifully sculpted. The history of the United States of
America was elaborately explained by the guide as to how one after the other,
States joined the United States and the statues depict those leaders primarily responsible
for the merger after overcoming apprehensions and aligning aspirations of
people of different states.

QUEEN VICTORIA AND HELEN KELLER LEGENDS IN THEIR OWN RIGHT |
I felt sad when I read and saw in the TV, few days ago the violence that erupted and it was horrifying to learn that damage was caused to such a prestigious structure and location. As a rank outsider yet admirer of USA, I felt that to settle political differences this is not acceptable even as a last resort that too in the country that is viewed as an edifice of ideal democratic set up.
THE CAPITOL AND WHITE HOUSE EPITOME OF US DEMOCRACY |
20th January 2021 is
not only a historic day for the USA but to the democratic world as well, as,
for the first time a woman takes over as Vice President of the United States of
America. Her Afro-American – Indian origin adds further flavor to the news. On
this historic occasion as a non-USA person, but loving and respecting democracy
and USA, I feel proud that just a year ago I
visited a place that was historic already and creating history now.
